SB 118 – Refundable Dependent Tax Credit

SB 118 – Refundable Dependent Tax Credit

I believe parents should receive tax relief if the public school system is not the best option for their family.

All families should be treated fairly under our tax code. That’s why I introduced Senate Bill 118, which would establish a fully refundable dependent tax credit available to every Michigan family who decides the public education system is not the best option for their children.

This targeted credit could provide thousands of dollars annually for each dependent who is school-aged, but not enrolled in public schools. If the public school system is not providing a benefit for certain families, we should relieve them of that tax burden.
