Gotion is a China-based company proposing a new battery parts factory in Mecosta County. The Michigan House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations recently approved a legislative effort to provide grant funding for the proposed battery plant. The measure is currently before the Senate Committee on Appropriations. Numerous lawmakers and residents have expressed concerns over the project’s potential risks.
